Whitetail Deer Body Hair - Short Coarse - Medium to Dark Color

Whitetail Deer Body Hair - Short Coarse - Medium to Dark Color

  • $5.40

The much sought after Comparadun hair in a medium to darker color is found on the side of the Whitetail deer about three inches above the white belly hair. This hair, in any quantity, can only be obtained during the first 14-20 days of October during what is called the "early season". It is important to understand that this hair is found on northern (above 40 degree latitude) deer, including the Northern Woodland Whitetail, the Dakota Whitetail and the Northwestern Whitetail subspecies. In most states this is the bow hunting season. That isn't to say that a rare good hide can't be found in a more southerly deer, but the chances of that are remote. The reason this hair is more desirable for small flies is the black tips are very short or non exsistent. On the late season hair that is approaching 2", the black tips will be around 1/4" long. The only thing consistent about Whitetail deer hair is inconsistency! Length 1/2" - 1 1/4". Size: 2" x 3" or 4" x 6". Item# 697
